Historian of African American Legal Rights Wins MacArthur Fellowship



Dylan C. Penningroth, a historian at Northwestern University, has been awarded a MacArthur Fellowship for his work on the legal rights of slaves and the descendents of slaves. His project shows that, although slaves were considered property, they still managed to own and accumulate property.
